Exposition collective d’art contemporain d’artistes étrangers ou descendants de parents étrangers

Chaque accent est le fruit d’une histoire personnelle et dans chaque travail il y a une nuance particulière, un son unique, des couleurs spéciales et un point de vue qui varie avec l’origine, la famille, le temps et, finalement avec la vie. Cet accent, nous le nommons “Nouvel” parce qu’il est différent mais commun, étrange mais familier, bizarre mais proche, inhabituel mais courant.

Nous sommes des êtres linguistiques car le langage est notre peau, et celle-ci nous définit, nous délimite face à l’autre. Plus encore, dans un langage artistique qui non seulement est prononcé, est énoncé, il se concrétise. C’est à dire qu’il est mis en évidence, en assumant la responsabilité absolue de ce pourquoi on fait (Comme un assassin qui signe et laisse ses données sur la victime).
Quand je parle de l’Accent (d’origine ou hérité), il y a une connotation liée à la parole et au langage oral, je fais alors allusion à quelque chose de plus vaste présent dans tout.
Il s’agit d’une déformation ou exacerbation des sentiments, une perversion (ou non) du goût, en contrepoint, une détérioration des modèles esthétiques, linguistiques, sociaux et moraux. Je fais référence au choc culturel, à la mécanisation de la vie quotidienne dans les émotions, les idées et les relations avec autrui. Je parle de l’insertion d’une idée d’homogénéité globale.
Nouvel Accent, c’est tout cela : ce qui ne cesse de se transformer.
L’exposition est ambitieuse, à l’image même du travail de chacun des artistes qui sont présentés, car le travail de chacun d’entre eux est une métaphore d’eux-mêmes.

Thierry Ferreira’s photographic series “Pursuit of Radioactive Cloud” emerged as observation and spontaneous capture by the artist of a cloud that, along a way, stayed omnipresent. The choice to face it as a metaphor for an imminent radioactive threat, concrete and real, is due to the events that were highlighted in the news at the time that the photographic series was made, namely the radioactivity leak from nuclear plants in Japan in the aftermath of the great earthquake of March 2011 in that country.

The omnipresence of the cloud that hangs over us refers to the constant and real threat of potential dangers created by Man in the world we live in. These dangers can hit us wherever we are and at any time, regardless of the distance of their origin. This photographic series also refers to the way that news of disasters get printed in our minds, and that weigh so much that they turn into fears that haunt us. Those events seem to indicate that a part of the human species is absent-minded and/or indifferent to the dangers it creates for itself and its habitat, with a mind clouded by ambition and pretension of progress that obscures their vision of reality, leading them to build the means for their own potential destruction.

We feel tormented by our fears, by threats and dangers, real and imagined, and yet, we are the ones who pursue these dangers, we are the ones that cause them, fascinated and attracted by our own self-destruction. We chase the radioactive cloud, it is everywhere, and this series confronts us with that reality, preventing us from looking away. Prisoners of our apathy, can we ever escape the fatalism of Murphy’s Law?

Can the artist be different from the other human beings in this sense? Is he intrinsically super-human due to his condition of artist? Will he be able to chase the cloud with a different intent from that of the common mortal? On the way, in pursuit of the cloud, the artist, while capturing the cloud photographically, also travels through his mind, in an act of artistic creation parallel to the act of photographing and that translates into a reflection on his role and condition of his being, and of consequent conclusion and decision. The artist, like a martyr, then chases the cloud, risking himself to capture it definitively, to save humanity in an artistic-heroic act, thereby validating art as the means for human salvation. Art is, after all, heroism; and the artist is undoubtedly a hero. In the end, with a gesture of apparent ease (for an artist/hero) and obvious grandiosity, the hero defeats the threat, frees us from danger, comforts us with the security of knowing that the radioactive cloud is, finally, contained. We can breathe a sigh of relief, we have an artist who watches over us.
