The Flashback exhibition is part of ESAD.CR’s 25th Anniversary celebrations and presents works created within the various photography curricular units of the Plastic Arts course.
We intend to make visible the diversity of approaches and practices allowed by the photographic medium and, at the same time, to emphasize the transversality of photography in the contemporary artistic practice and its protagonism in the learning of the Plastic Arts. All the photographs in this exhibit integrate work series and bodies developed over one or more semesters and are the result of a sustained and debated individual investigation among students, teachers and classmates.
Scattered between Self-portrait Photographic, Photographic Document, Photography, place and landscape, Introduction to Photography, Option II, Photographic Project and Master Project, the photography disciplines integrate the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Plastic Arts. As optional curricular units, they are often enriched with students from other courses. Common to all this diversity of curricular units is a pedagogical approach that privileges the articulation between the acquisition of technique and the deepening of the language of the photographic image.
We would like to thank all the institutions that have hosted this exhibition, namely the José Malhoa Museum in Caldas da Rainha, the Communication and Culture Center in Torres Vedras, the Círculo de Artes Plásticas in Coimbra and the Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa , in Lisbon. Of course, without the enthusiasm and generosity of the faculty of photography, it would have been very difficult for these projects to have been created. To these teachers we express our admiration and respect, as well as the Coordination of the course of Plastic Arts that launched the challenge of this exhibition, and has since supported the production of the exhibition. Finally, we would like to thank the students, without whom our work would not make sense.

A exposição Flashback está integrada nas comemorações dos 25 Anos da ESAD.CR e apresenta trabalhos criados no âmbito das várias unidades curriculares de fotografia do curso de Artes Plásticas.

Pretendemos tornar visível a diversidade de abordagens e práticas permitidas pelo médium fotográfico e, ao mesmo tempo, sublinhar a transversalidade da fotografia na prática artística contemporânea e o seu protagonismo na aprendizagem das Artes Plásticas. Todas as fotografias nesta exposição integram séries e corpos de trabalho desenvolvidos ao longo de um ou mais semestres e resultam de uma investigação individual sustentada e debatida entre os alunos, professores e colegas de turma.

Espalhadas entre Auto-retrato Fotográfico, Documento Fotográfico, Fotografia, lugar e paisagem, Introdução à Fotografia, Opção II, Projecto Fotográfico e Projecto de Mestrado, as disciplinas de fotografia integram a licenciatura e o mestrado em Artes Plásticas. Enquanto unidades curriculares opcionais, são frequentemente enriquecidas com alunos provenientes de outros cursos. Comum a toda esta diversidade de unidades curriculares está uma abordagem pedagógica que privilegia a articulação entre a aquisição de técnica e o aprofundamento da linguagem da imagem fotográfica.

Gostaríamos de agradecer a todas as instituições que acolheram esta exposição, nomeadamente o Museu José Malhoa, em Caldas da Rainha, o Centro de Comunicação e Cultura, de Torres Vedras, o Círculo de Artes Plásticas, em Coimbra, e o Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, em Lisboa. Naturalmente, sem o entusiasmo e a generosidade do corpo docente de fotografia, teria sido muito difícil estes projectos terem sido criados. A esses docentes manifestamos a nossa admiração e respeito, assim como à Coordenação do curso de Artes Plásticas que lançou o repto desta mostra, e desde então tem apoiado a produção da exposição. Por fim, gostaríamos de agradecer aos alunos, sem os quais o nosso trabalho não faria sentido.
